dc.descriptionThe Orthodox religious music in Transylvanian tradition has a unique history. It gained an important place in the Romanian musical heritage, by the way it managed to adapt to Romanian, in its own style, the psaltic musical repertoire, of Byzantine tradition. Build from the oral tradition, which, in its turn blended with folklore, cult music, and the other co-existing cults, and from psaltic tradition, Dimitrie Cuntanu’s work fairly represents, the first Transylvanian religious musical monument of Romanian root. The Byzantine musical origin of this paper can be detected, together with other works, from the musical structures of the first Katavasia established by Cuntanu, at Lord’s Birth Feast. Transformed to Romanian by different anonymous protagonists of the Transylvanian music, the Lord’s Birth Catavasia represents a Hrysantic exegesis reference of Byzantine music, in a Transylvanian style. Rezumat. EXEGEZE MUZICALE, ÎN STIL TRANSILVAN, REALIZATE DE DIMITRIE CUNȚANU LA CATAVASIA NAȘTERII DOMNULUI. Muzica bisericească ortodoxă de tradiție transilvană are un istoric aparte. Ea și-a câștigat un loc important în patrimoniul muzical românesc prin modul în care a reușit să românească, într-un stil propriu, repertoriul muzical psaltic, de tradiție bizantină. Construită din tradiția orală, care, la rândul ei, s-a îngemănat cu folclorul, cu muzica cultă și cu muzica celorlalte culte conlocuitoare, și din tradiția muzicii psaltice, lucrarea lui Dimitrie Cunțanu reprezintă, pe drept cuvânt, primul monument muzical bisericesc transilvan românit. Izvorul muzical bizantin al acestei lucrări poate fi decelat, alături de alte cântări, din structurile melodice ale catavasiei întâi fixate de Cunțanu, la sărbătoarea Nașterii Domnului. Românită secole de-a rândul de diverși protagoniști anonimi ai muzicii transilvane, catavasia Nașterii Domnului reprezintă un reper de exegeză hrysantică a muzicii bizantine, în stil transilvan.
